Hill: Ben Rinnes
Date: Saturday 1st October 2016
Company: Myself, Joanne and Mac
Distance: 7.6km, Ascent: 525m
Time: 2Hrs 45Mins

A local hill was in order on Saturday, we therefore made our way to Dufftown and beyond to the Edinvillie car park for an ascent of our local Corbett, Ben Rinnes. This would be my sixth ascent of Ben Rinnes and Joanne and Mac's first.

With three previous reports for Ben Rinnes already on my site, this is a very brief report. We followed the standard route up and back from Edinvillie car park.

Previous reports for Ben Rinnes can be accessed here, here and here.

From the car park we followed the initial zig-zags leading up the hill. The weather was not fantastic with cloud capping the summit and lots of surrounding cloud. We were however hopeful that by the time we reached the summit it would be clear.

Looking back towards Little Conval and Meikle Conval:

We progressed up the hill without stopping until reaching the summit.

Final ascent towards the summit:

On reaching the summit we visited the trig point and then the summit rock circa 10m from the trig point.

On the summit rock of Ben Rinnes:

A wee shelter just below the summit:

During the descent we could see rain getting closer and closer as it progressed towards us from Little Conval to Meikle Conval and then to Ben Rinnes. We did get a little wet but probably not as wet as others who were ascending in shorts and t-shirt.
